About the Role

We are currently recruiting research assistants/technicians, who are able to perform routine cell culture, cell transformation and growth, and extract plasmids for use in pre-clinical experiments in a laboratory environment. Under the general direction of the company president and senior scientist, this individual will be expected to work independently in accordance with established objectives, and exercise initiative and judgment in performing all work-related functions.

Major responsibilities include:
 Perform routine cell and bacteria culture. Extract and harvest plasmids
 Carry out associated assays to verify the quality of plasmids, e.g. RT-PCR, electrophoresis, Western blot,
plasmid ligation and enzyme digestion
 Assist in developing SOP and designing protocols for vitro assays
 Aseptic operations undertaken with precision and accuracy
 Collect, analyze, and interpret data and report to senior research staff
 Monitor lab supplies and keep inventory updated
 Help to supervise safety and security issues in the lab
 Regularly cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment
 Perform other related duties

Requirements

Qualifications and Expectations 

  • University degree in a relevant discipline or technical program of related experience or an equivalent combination of biology, molecular biology, virology and life sciences

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Familiarity with health sciences and research initiatives

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage and move forward a diverse range of concurrently complex projects and initiatives to meet imposed deadlines

  • Ability to work independently while always exercising excellent judgment

  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a team environment

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Co-op student or fresh graduates are welcome

  • Fluency in Mandarin preferred
